The challenge

When your brand doesn’t feel like you anymore...

Brightpurpose had been doing brilliant work for years, supporting public and non-profit organisations through evaluation, strategy and all the deep-thinking stuff that makes a real difference. The only problem? Their brand hadn’t kept up.

What they had was flat, safe and forgettable. And that’s not who they are.

Helen and the team knew it was time for change. The pandemic had shaken things up, and they were ready to step into a new chapter with purpose and pride. They just needed a brand that could keep up – and feel as alive and energised as the work they do.

That’s where we came in.

Clarity. Confidence. Colour.

We kicked off the project the way we always do: by listening. We got to know Brightpurpose inside out – what they stand for, what gets them fired up, and what they wanted their brand to feel like.

Warm, credible, human and clever? We can work with that.

Rebrand: From playing it safe to standing out proudly

Brightpurpose had a strong reputation and a loyal client base but their visual identity wasn’t doing them any favours. It felt a bit beige (their words, not ours!), and didn’t reflect the energy, warmth or intelligence that makes them who they are.

We took them through a full rebrand process, starting with a deep dive into their values, personality and vision. No fluff – just honest conversations and a few “aha!” moments. Together, we clarified what they stood for and how they wanted to show up in the world.

The result? A bold new look that feels grown-up but still full of heart. Confident, clear and full of personality – just like them.

Website revamp: Showing up with clarity and confidence

Their old website was doing the bare minimum. It was static, uninspiring, and didn’t capture the value or breadth of their work. Worse still, it left the team feeling a bit… embarrassed to share it.

So we fixed that.

We designed and built a brand-new site that’s clean, fresh and easy to navigate. It works beautifully on mobile, is simple to update in-house, and makes it easy for visitors to understand what Brightpurpose does and how they help.

Most importantly, it reflects who they are now – thoughtful, approachable, and totally switched on.

Brand toolkit: Empowering the team to stay on-brand, effortlessly

There’s nothing worse than a shiny new brand that no one knows how to use. So we gave the Brightpurpose team the tools and guidance they needed to roll it out with ease and consistency.

From brand guidelines and editable templates to social media assets and pitch decks – we made sure everything was clear, practical and ready to go. Now, whether they’re presenting to a new client or posting on LinkedIn, they’ve got everything they need to look the part and sound like themselves.

The team’s now confidently using their brand day-to-day, and the feedback? Glowing.

The results

The new identity has given Brightpurpose a real boost, from internal confidence to external recognition. The team now has a brand they’re proud to share, and one that truly reflects their personality and purpose.

Their website is now doing the job it was always meant to – clearly explaining what they do, how they help, and why they’re different. And thanks to the brand toolkit, the whole team is showing up consistently, whether it’s a client pitch, workshop or social post.

In short: they’ve moved from feeling a bit awkward about their brand… to owning it with pride.

The team at 39steps really ‘got’ us: what we do, who we are and what we stand for. They translated that into an incredible new look that we’re very proud of. We’re getting fantastic feedback from our clients and partners, saying that it gives a real sense of who we are and what it’s like to work us. 39Steps made the process easy and fun, and gave us the confidence to own our space.
