Casting one’s mind back to 15 June, 2017.
An email arrives. It’s Julie, asking how everything is going. I look out the window. It’s overcast yet mild, with fresh westerly winds. Leaves frolic upon their branches and a grey cloud floats into view. Inside, the orchestra plays Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 whilst Eri eats a sandwich. Nicky types something on a keyboard, yet Steven remains unseen, perhaps plotting something sinister nearby. Time will tell.
At the bottom of Julie’s email is a quote from Will Smith:
“The best bits of life lie on the other side of fear.”
I’m immediately inspired to look up quotes by Kim Kardashian. Here’s a good one:
“Holidays are the best. I couldn’t imagine being from a small family.”
Well, I’ve never watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and I don’t really know Kim, but she seems like a nice person.
In the days since June 15, I have been tinkering around with Phoscyon (VST plugin), tweaking a few bass-line patterns here and there. I don’t get a lot of time these days to play around with Cubase and the like, but I try to do a little bit every couple of days. As Anthony Trollope once said or, more likely, wrote:
“A small daily task, if it be really daily, will beat the labours of a spasmodic Hercules.”
