Making whisky is a passion and it takes a productive team to make the perfect dram.
For Whyte & Mackay, colleague well-being is a main priority. It was with that in mind that we were approached to create a health and safety campaign to appear in their factories, ahead of H&S training being given to colleagues.
With over 700 people – the majority of whom work in the manufacturing teams, Whyte & Mackay’s employee pool is diverse, ranging from those just new in the door to long-standing team members, native English speakers to non-native.
The challenge?
To create a strong, positive, clear message that resonates with each colleague.
What was needed was a hook. A way to engage people to take notice, regardless of how long they’d been in the job and their background.
So, we created a strong, memorable line in ‘Safe today. Tomorrow. And every day.’
This copy, coupled with photos of real team members who actually work in the spaces, makes the campaign feel personal, non-patronising and reinforces accountability when it comes to staying safe at work.
We designed an identity for all things H&S with a style that’s related to the Whyte & Mackay employer brand (which we’re working on too) while being distinct in it’s own right.
The campaign has been installed onto the giant factory walls, with various banners visible throughout sites and a guidance brochure. A roll-out across Whyte & Mackay’s factories is in process this year.
The result?
“The health and safety of our colleagues are paramount. We wanted a clear campaign that puts our people at the forefront. What 39steps created for us was visually striking, stands out in our locations, and celebrates our colleagues, all while getting this important message across.”
